Hempton Cross - 29th Nov

5th at the Hempton Cross.

Held on a technical course next to Fakenham race course. Last years race was freezing cold and raining stair rods so at least it was dryish and warmish this year!

Got a good start on the closed road section, big ring and go! Overcooked the dead turn but went into the offroad section in 3rd place. David Fraser took off like a train and there was no catching him but myself, Nikki Juniper and Mark Farrow got a good gap to the chasers. Myself and Nikki made the off road sections look much more difficult than they were and I gradually dropped off to run a comfortable 4th. Last lap and I thought I'd got an easy 4th place, big mistake! Fell off on a pretty innocuous turn, exactly where Nikki fell off earlier in the race. Unshipped the chain and allowed Tony Wilkins to come past. Got back on his wheel but got held up a bit behind back markers and a lack of race skill to stay close enough to him so couldn't catch him on the fast road section to the finish. 5th place overall and 3rd vet for the league wasn't too bad. Now up to 10th and based on average should finish top 5.

Regional Championships at Foxhall next Sunday. All support welcome! 12:40 for the vets. Everyone together so will be able to see where I am compared to the Elite Vets.
